Question:
What about science fascinates you (or more simply, what do you like about science)?
Answer:
I really can’t answer this question without writing a whole paper on it, so I’m going to try my best to stuff it all into one paragraph. First of all, I love nature and animals, so biology is pretty awesome that way. Also, hands-on experiments are my thing. Mwahahaha… mixing chemicals to make fizzy concoctions of doom… Um, anyway, I guess just I want to know how everything in the universe works, even though all that information would probably explode my brain.
Question:
What hobbies or extra-curricular activities do you enjoy and why?
Answer:
I have so many extra-curricular activities it’s not even funny. First of all, I play the cello in my school orchestra and at home. I also go to Art Club because I really enjoy drawing, painting and all that. I used to go to Montana Outdoor Science School (MOSS) Club, which included natural sciences and that kind of stuff. This year was my last year participating in FIRST Lego League (FLL) tournaments, and I plan to go onto the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) in high school. And then, of course, I did YSC last year too, and so I’m doing it again. It gets busy, but it’s lots of fun.
Question:
What career do you want to pursue and why?
Answer:
This question comes up pretty much everywhere. Truthfully, I’m not really sure what kind of career I want to go into. Probably something involving math or science, maybe a marine biologist? Or a physicist? I want to do something worthwhile that will help advance human knowledge and save the planet, with the situation we’re in right now. I don’t have anything really specific planned out, though.
Question:
What is your favorite school subject?
Answer:
I would have to say that my favorite subject is either math or science (surprise, surprise). Maybe it’s because my dad is university science professor, or maybe I’ve had great teachers in the past. Or maybe I just love math and science for some subliminal reason I can’t really explain.
